Besides being disrespectful to your attention, notifications like this do something else that’s much more nefarious: they train you to be a passive consumer of information rather than an active one.
I’ve had all my notifications (except for calls and texts) on silent, they cannot make a sound if they want to. They do appear on my iPhone’s screen, so they’re there when I have time to check them. It’s a very different experience to switch from ‘Check me!’-notifications to having a dashboard of recent information. Try it.
